WIP Active Quick Start

Use this guide for quick installation using a mariadb embedded database

For more detailed information on installation refer to WIP Active Install Guide

For more information on daily usage refer to WIP Active User Guide

 

Installation

You will find the application setup in the Software download area

Once downloaded, run the .exe installer

Complete Setup

Enter the service user details that will start the WIP Active services, this should be an admin of the machine.

Leave the 'Run Setup now' checked, and press finish. This will launch the WIP Active Setup
Press OK

Setup

WIP Active is connected to a local Mariadb automatically; you can consult the documentation to connect to other databases like SQL Server or Oracle
Services tab, click on the WIP Active Management Console

Click the Admin Login icon

 

 

User VMMANAGER, Password : EBIEXPERTS

License

Press the Enter License button

 

The license is the text between <back license> tags
Paste the License included in the license text and press the Save button.
WIP Active will restart; re-enter the VMMANAGER / EBIEXPERTS credentials.

If you have problems pressing the login press CTRL-F5 on the web browser

Choose a new username and password for the Manager account save it in a safe place.
Login with your new Manager account

If you have problems pressing the login press CTRL-F5 on the web browser

Nothing to Restore need some configuration.
Select the Admin Menu

Connect to Qlik Sense

Press the + Button to connect to a new Qlik Sense Server, repeat this for all your Qlik Sense Servers

 

The Qlik Sense “Url” is the one in the hub without any proxy and before any /

Enter the Server information.

  • Server: Enabled checked

  • Name: display name for your server

  • URL: Url of the Qlik sense server in the sample “https://dell-jp” without any trailing / and proxy

  • External Url : Url of the Qlik sense server the user will access the hub with the virtual proxy for example “https://dell-jp” or “https://dell-jp/proxy” with a proxy without any trailing /

  • Is Default Server: checked for the server used for AB authentication against Qlik Sense single sign-on (only one server is used for authentication)

  • Impersonate: “For Publish”

  • Username: a Qlik Sense RootAdmin user used for the backup of the applications

  • Set Password: the password for Username

Press save in order to press the Certificate button.

Import Certificate

In order to connect AB to your Qlik Sense servers you need to export the Qlik Sense Server certificate

Open QMC and select certificates.
Press “Add machine name”, fill the name or the certificate, press “Export Certificates.”
Open the location shown in the screen ON THE QLIK SENSE SERVER and copy the folder to a place accessible from your WIP Active browser window.

 

Select the client.pfx certificate and Open.
Press Save and Import “client.pfx”
Press Test Qlik Sense Server should display SUCCESS.

Select Streams to Backup

Admin > Edit Server > Streams to Backup

Select Include all streams and exclude some.

Or simply select the streams to include.

Select the Users to Backup

Same for users Include All Users and select some to Exclude or just select the ones to include.

Troubleshooting

Can’t connect to Qlik Sense Server

  1. Open the firewall between AB Server and Qlik Sense Server on ports 4242 and 4747.

  2. Check the certificate.

  3. Check the Username

Start Retention

Once the Qlik Sense server(s) connected WIP Active will start to retain your applications every 15 minutes for Work ones and after every Publish for the ones published to streams.

Note only selected streams and users will be backed up

Restore

Select a period of time using the from and to dates, filter your applications by name, stream, owner.

Once your app found click on “Restore” button

You can restore to Original Location, Work or a stream.

Restore History

In the restore history tab you can see the restored versions.
