What is WIP Active
WIP Active protects your Qlik Sense data with a continuous backup tool that runs in the background and does not require any manual intervention. It does work automatically so that you can be sure your data is always being backed up.
Press Qlik Login
Enter the Qlik username and password of WIP\POCAdmin. As WIP uses Qlik Sense Single SignOn further interaction with WIP or Qlik will be done with this user without to need to reconnect.
If you need to connect using another user, open a new incognito window or close all browsers your windows and create a new one.
Â
Active Restore
WIP Active is continuous and automatic. Every app is backed up every 15 minutes by default. The Retention policies are used to determine the number of backup versions and the frequency to be kept.
Restore An App
Once the user has found the restore asset, they can click on it and select the restore options provided:
Restore Options:
Destination:
Original location
Will restore to the original location the application was backed up from
WORK
Will restore the app to the user’s WORK stream
Stream (might not be activated by Admin)
Any stream the user has access
When the user has selected the destination, they can click the Restore button to restore the application.
Selective Restore
Once the destination selected by default WIP Active will restore the whole application but you can select the app objects to restore individually.
Â
Active restore is always a great option for bigger problems, but you should restore objects individually and with care, e.g. if you restore a script where a table is missing, the visualizations may be impacted if they refer to a table that no longer exists.
Restore History
Restore history is a quick and easy place to search and find restore information by time, user status. You can see the restore details at the bottom of the view when you select a restore process on top.
Retention Policies
The retention policies (Admin / Global Configurations / 01 Backup Policies )
WIP Active retention policies set the frequency and the number of backups to keep during a defined period. When this period ends, older backups are deleted.
WIP Active uses retention policies to preserve backed up data for a certain period of time. There are different policies for both the published applications and the in-development applications. When this period ends, older backups are deleted.
Â
For example for Published Apps we keep
one backup per day for 6 days
then one backup per week for 3 weeks
then one backup per month for 11 months
then one backup per year for 4 years
then after 5 years without changes the app is deleted
